After leaving high school, in the mid-1970s Vince moved to Kentucky
where he joined a bluegrass band. He
worked with Ricky Skaggs and later became a member of the band that backed
Rodney Crowell, son in law to Johnny Cash. During the 1980s he had record deals
but was only a moderate success, though he was a talented musician and had a
good tenor voice. In the 1990s he began
to have more success and became a member of the Grand Old Opry.
He had married a singer Janis Oliver, in 1980, and they had
a daughter... But their marriage ended in divorce in 1997. He remarried in March 2000 to Christian singer, Amy Grant and they have one daughter. He is an ardent golfer in his spare time....
I saw Vince on the Grand Old Opry a few years ago, and he was a charming funny and talented performer....
